Swine Flu treatment or better said Tamiflu

Tamiflu is the comercial name of Oseltamivir, an antiviral drug that is used against both influenza virus A and B. It’s a transition-state analogue inhibitor of influenza neuraminidase, and in simple words what is that is that it prevents the virus from emerging from the infected cells so it doesn’t spread through the body.

This medicine is distributed by the laboratories Hoffmann-La Roche and it has recently gotten a lot of media attention because it’s the only know medicine that helps curing an infection of the swine flu.

Dosage and Indications

This medicament is indicated for the treatment of infections due to influenza A and B virus in people, the minimum age is 1 year old.

This medicament should be taken within 48 hours of the first symptoms and the dosage is:
75 mg twice daily for 5 days

If the treatment is for preventing an infection either because of a contaminated community or because of a close contact with a person infected with the virus, the dosage would be of 75 mg daily.
